100% White Trash

Friday we had a Halloween White Trash Party. I have always wanted to throw a white trash party, just never did. So, finally Eric and I decided that we would throw one, and I am so glad we did. It was fun setting up for the party. Eric and I hung Christmas lights around the garage and on our patio. Sparkly 5ft. paper skeletons hung on each side of the garage. Spider webs were strung everywhere with cheap black plastic spider rings. Streamers were hung everywhere, and we had an old TV sitting on top of 2 cinder blocks. Pop cans were randomly thrown on the floor. As we were decorating I was telling Eric that the way we are decorating has probably confirmed that we really are white trash. I swear I only see my neighbors when I am in pajama pants, oversized t-shirt, no bra, and nappy hair.

Here's part of the group. I didn't even think about taking a group picture until a few of the couples left. Oops.

What better way to kick off a white trash party then having Joe Dirt playing? As friends arrived we showed Joe Dirt while we finished cooking our gourmet meal. We had a feast of corn dogs, pizza rolls, and burritos from the frozen section cut up with toothpicks sticking out of them. We also had Doritos, Twinkies, Ding Dongs, licorice, and IBC Root Beer.

Eric got out his fancy pellet gun and the boys started target shooting. My sweet husband took the box that had all of my greeting cards that were filed and organized, and used it to hold the targets and catch the pellets. I can no longer use that box. Thanks hun! Dallas brought candy cigs and was kind enough to share his smokes.

Is this not a typical white trash picture? 8 month pregnant lady with a gun and a cigarette hanging out of her mouth.

This is my sister Kristianne. Our parents would be so proud.

We had old school music playing and did some break dancing. At first only a couple people had the courage to make fool of themselves and attempt break dancing. So to loosen everybody up we did the Macarena. There was a guy across from our garage reading on his patio and he witnessed everything. I could only imagine what he was thinking. I am sure Eric and I will now be known as the freaks of Bala Desertscapes Apts. After shaking it to the Macarena people loosened up and we made a circle and everyone took a turn bustin’ a move.

Dallas was the only one that could really break dance. He was our winner for the break dancing contest. He won a box of gummy Frankenstein brains.

Dallas showed us how to do a
break dance move, and some of
the guys tried it. This is Cameron
putting his moves to the test.

Jami knows how to get down!

Since we were all pumped up we went upstairs and sang karaoke. We rocked the house!

Jose playing the air guitar. Jose also won the best white trash costume award.

I was sooo surprised when Eric took the microphone and said he'd sing a song. The man doesn't even sing in church! I gotta hand it to him, he did pretty dang awesome!

I sang Lady in Red. It was very moving.

Bethany and I sang a duet to Air Supply’s Making Love out of Nothing at all. I thought I knew most of the words, luckily Bethany saved us not only by knowing the words but with her voice.
Towards half way through the songs I was the back up singer/interpreter dancer.
We had a spitting contest using gum, and ended the night with bashing in a piƱata that I had made. It was a tough one to break. I made sure of it.

IT'S BACK!

Ok, you Office fans, I want to know what you thought of last night's episode. My cynical husband thinks that Pam and Jim aren't going to make it. He thinks that Pam will start liking someone in NY. I have faith in Pam and Jim. Do you think Andy and Angela are going to go through with the wedding, or will Angela get back together with Dwight? What about Michael and the new H.R. lady, Holly? Let me know your predictions for what lies ahead this season.
Also, who else can't stand Ryan?
Confession: I have dreams about characters from the Office and in my dreams they are my B.F.F. Is that a cry for help?

Murder Mystery Party

Eric and I were house sitting for the family I work for and since their home is humongous we decided to take advantage of the space and host a Murder Mystery Dinner Party. We shopped at the D.I. to find the right attire for our character, which was lots of fun. You can find so many "interesting" pieces at the D.I. Since I can't sew I asked one of my Laurels in Young Women's if she could help me out and make the pants I got into peddle pushers. (Capri's) She did an awesome job. If I couldn't get her to help me I was going to cut them myself
and use staples to hem them.
We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and had ice cream sundaes. It was fun to see everyone get in the spirit of the game and become their character. You get to interrogate everyone while making accusations and call people names. It was great!!! I would have to say that it was a successful party and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Of course I forgot my camera so I'd like to thank Jami and Dallas for bringing theirs so I could have pictures to post on my blog. It was set in the year 1959 and Tom (the man that is murdered) is having us all over for a B.B.Q. A sudden rainstorm hits and we all run inside. When the storm subsides we go outside to find that Tom has been MURDERED and one of us did it! Duh duh duhhhhhh.....

Our characters were,

Johnny Angel: A mechanic who can fix anything on wheels.
Barby Q: the dazzling "blond" divorcee. Come to find out she is a big hussy. Apparently I must do a good job at playing a hussy because the last time we participated in a murder mystery party my character was a hoochie. So I got into character as I posed with Johnny Angel.

Cameron and Bethany
Also know as

Chubby Cheddar:
A rock 'n' roll musician who's finally made it big.
Bobby Sox:
National Hula Hoop champion in 1958 and also is Tom's sweet little sister. ( Or is she?)
The picture to the right Cameron is rockin' out to his air guitar and Bethany is Hula Hooping with an imaginary Hula Hoop.

Dallas and Jami
Also known as
Ivan Spudnik:
A Russian rocket scientist who recently defected to America. He is also a drunk.
Tiara Diamond:
Tom's fiancee and Newly crowned Miss Kansas City.
Don't worry folks, Dallas is drinking IBC Rootbeer.

If anyone wants to borrow our game let me know.
You can only play it once so it's just sitting in our closet.

Show Low Triathlon

Well, this post is long overdue... We went to Show Low a couple weeks ago with our really good friends, the Comefords. Eric and Cameron competed in a sprint triathlon. They rocked that race! They started out swimming 625 meters, then biked 13 miles, and ran 3 miles. Eric finished the race in 1 hr. and 27 min.! He has only done Olympic triathlons so he really enjoyed doing the sprint. I was so proud of him! Bethany and I were the devoted cheerleaders. We are probably the best cheerleaders ever. :) Yeah, I missed Eric getting out of the pool (apparently he was the 2nd one out) and when he transitioned from the biking to the running. I was talking a little too much and wasn't paying attention. Oops!

This is Eric and Cameron before the race. Sorry ladies, I didn't get any pictures of them without their shirts on wearing their skin tight swim shorts. Bummer!

Bethany and I taking a time out from doing all of our cheers and cartwheels.

Who rocks the jukebox? They don't even look tired!
What a stud!

Taking time to pose with my sweaty man!

Vacation to Idaho

We went to Idaho a few weeks ago. I was so proud of myself for remembering to bring our camera and video camera. I was excited to get pictures so I could post them on the blog. Since our most recent photo is from like a year ago. The day we get to Idaho I find out our memory card for the camera is pretty much full. Out of the 10 day trip I got to take 5 pictures, and not one of Eric and I. Let me tell you why. I would walk out of the house thinking that I didn't look too bad. I would take this opportunity to get a picture of Eric and I since I looked decent. Every freakin' picture I took I looked like someone had just punched me in the stomach. I am not kidding. I looked like I was in pain or maybe constipated. It was horrible!!! One eye would be smaller than the other. My mouth looked like I had had a stroke and half of my face couldn't move. My posture was all weird. It was awful. I wanted to cry! Even when other people took pictures I would have the same face. I was so frustrated. Finally I gave up and didn't want my self-esteem lowered anymore so I took pictures of scenery. I have come to the conclusion I am not a photogenic person, and that's alright.
Then I thought well at least I have the video camera. Yup, I forgot to bring a tape. I was really annoyed. Besides all that, it was a great vacation. It's beautiful in Idaho. We went boating and my dad was skiing and detached his bicep. Funny story about that... He had to get surgery on it last week. When he was in the recovery room and the anesthesia was wearing off he told my mom that the key to running a good triathlon is to eat cinnamon toast. Crazy daddy.

Weekend Gettaway

Last Friday Eric took me away to a resort in Scottsdale for our 5 year anniversary. It was so nice! He surprised me by taking me to a 4 diamond restaurant that was at the resort. We walk in and I already feel out of place. The waiter pulls out my chair and places the napkin on my lap. I couldn't help but giggle with a huge grin on my face. Each course was phenomenal! Everyone around probably could tell that this was our first time dining in a place like that. Each dish they brought out I was like, "Whoa! How cool is this?" or "Oh, my goodness! Hunny, try this!" They had a man playing an acoustic guitar the entire time. He was playing a bunch of familiar songs, which got me really excited. I was trying so hard not to sing along. Eric would kindly remind me that there is to be no singing. He had to remind me a few times.
The next morning we rented bikes and went for a bike ride on some trails. The trail was on a golf course and it was beautiful. We saw bunnies and baby ducks. It was such a fun ride. Then we got ready and Eric thought it would be fun to spend 5 hours at a dealership. We traded in our car and got more than what we owed on it, and got a great deal on another car. I guess it was worth the 5 hours. We got a dependable car with better gas mileage. No more worries about the Audi breaking down on us! Yea!
The rest of the weekend was fun and relaxing. We ordered pizza and watched Spongebob SquarePants. We went swimming and made up pool games. It was sad when we had to leave. I always hate going back to reality. It was nice to get out and enjoy each other. Sorry no pictures of this weekend. I am terrible at taking pictures!

We're Adopting and need your help!!!

We have been trying to get pregnant for a couple years now and haven't had any luck. We got some testing done and found out that our chances of getting pregnant are slim to none. With fasting and prayer we feel the route to start a family is through adoption. This is where we need your help. If you know of any mother that is placing her baby for adoption please mention us! We are very anxious and excited to start a family! The average time is 2 years for the adoption process. We were told that if we were active about getting the word out about us adopting it could help pick up the pace with the process, and land us with a mom who is choosing adoption. Thank you for your prayers!
